23g65: Humber Bridge under construction, 1981 - Humber
Previous
Next
I was on a tour around the Humber Bridge, then taking shape
at Hessle and wasn't sure if I was allowed to take photographs. No one else
seemed to have a camera, but my Minox 35mm lived in my jacket pocket at
the time and I took just one picture when we were eventually taken out to
view the bridge after a long presentation inside. It was a cold winter's
day with a little mist obscuring the low sun which my camera was pointing
directly at behind the bridge and I don't think we could see the other side
of the river, though the bank is visible in the photograph. The bridge opened
to traffic around 3 months later on 24 June 1981.
Still Occupied
Images on this site are arranged into rough areas by location as in my book 'Still Occupied', available on Blurb. Eventually this site will contain all the images in that book and more.
