23e63: Entrance Lock, Humber Dock, 1980 - The
Old Town
Previous
Next
The entrance lock leads from Humber Dock Basin to Humber Dock - now Hull
Marina and is approximately 50m x 10m. The road brdige across the lock swings
neatly into recesses at the side of the lock when opened for boats to pass.
I think the house here was the dockmaster's house, though it is described
as the Lock Keeper's Cottage by the property agent that now occupies it.
The lock now has new gates and is operated from an odd-looking cabin in
front of this house, which no longer has a clock on its frontage. THe other
buidlings around have been demolished..
Still Occupied
Images on this site are arranged into rough areas by location as in my book 'Still Occupied', available on Blurb. Eventually this site will contain all the images in that book and more.
